The Black Realities Grant is a monthly grant program hosted by Kaleidoscope. The grant was created by OSF Director of Equity, Sharifa Johka, who also serves as Co-Chair for the grant program. The grant was created as a response to the ongoing state violence and murder of Black people in the United States and across the globe. The aim is to provide Black Creatives (around the world) with a consistent and long term financial resource to develop films, games, AR, VR, apps, 3D animation or any other screen based project across the XR spectrum of ideas and applications. The Black Realities Grant awards a monthly cash prize to projects that explore the varied conditions, experiences, feelings, and range of humanity of the Black global community. Again, all formats, genres, and categories of screen-based projects are eligible including films, web series, games, apps, VR/AR/XR experiences, photojournalism, and more.
Each Black Realities Grant winner will be invited to participate in a "Casual Conversation" that will be recorded and programmed here on O!
